Portugal continues to strengthen its position on the world’s most prestigious hotel lists. The 2026 Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Hotels Guide has just been released. Once again, Portugal stands out as one of the most celebrated destinations globally, ranking second worldwide for the number of selected hotels.

This year’s guide features 183 exceptional properties across the globe, with 40 Portuguese hotels included, two more than in the previous edition. The result confirms what discerning travelers already know: Portugal offers an extraordinary blend of hospitality, heritage, gastronomy, wine culture, and a unique sense of place.
