Traveling is always a good idea but sometimes planning a journey gets tiresome, you come home at night and don't feel like spending hours in front of the computer searching for the right hotel and things to do. So relax, grab a glass of wine, and sit back while we plan a three-day tour in the Douro for you.

Douro is the oldest wine Demarcated Region in the world and the grape varietals in this region are known (and well appreciated) worldwide. It was in this region that Port wine, the main ambassador for the Portuguese wines, was born, but recently its table wines are being awarded internationally.

In this 3-day tour in Douro, you will find a bit more about the history of the region, while enjoying the breathtaking landscapes of the region and, of course, tasting the famous wines from Douro. All of our suggestions have taken all the distances and duration of the experiences into account.

First Day in the Douro

Check-in at Quinta da Pacheca, the ideal retreat in Douro, where you will find the peace and comfort you need, as well as a luxury environment. While in there, relax and appreciate the local food at Quinta da Pacheca restaurant on a menu a la carte.

16h30 - After this great lunch, in the afternoon head for Quinta do Crasto for a guided tour and wine tasting. Here, you will be able to walk in the vineyards and enjoy the true spirit of the Douro wine-making industry, as well as a tour of the winery and cellar where some of the most famous Quinta do Crasto wines are produced. The visit will end with the tasting of 5 wines. This will take you about an hour and a half so that you can enjoy the wines at your own rhythm.

20h00 - On this first day we recommend dining at Castas & Pratos, in Régua, a recently and luxuriously renovated restaurant in a historic ancient railway building.

Day Two in the Douro

9h00 - Wake up to the beautiful Douro terraces and refill your batteries with breakfast at Quinta da Pacheca. Check out of the Hotel and at 10h30 head for a visit at Quinta das Carvalhas. You can enjoy the region on a convertible minibus that will take you on a sightseeing tour from Pinhão to the emblematic "Casa Redonda" (Round House), situated at the top of the estate. There you will be welcomed with a glass of Quinta das Carvalhas Port Wine Tawny Reserva.

13h00 - After visiting one of the most famous vineyards in Douro, there's nothing better than to sit down and relax with a picnic at Quinta do Pôpa. Here you just have to grab your basket, find your perfect spot among the vineyards, and enjoy the selected wines and regional products, while overlooking the Douro river. Take your time to enjoy your picnic, this experience will take about 2 hours and a half.

17h00 - In the afternoon, right on time to catch the sunset in the Douro River, get aboard PipaDouro for one of the most emblematic cruises in Douro. The cruise includes Port or white wine tasting and the view will certainly remain in your memory forever.

20h00 - Check in at the Vintage House Douro and get to Rabelo, the hotel's restaurant, a warm and classic restaurant where you enjoy the Douro flavors. The Vintage House is a five-star hotel in Pinhão, right on the waterfront, with a privileged view over the Douro, as you will discover in the morning, as you will open your window to the river.

13h00 - After checking out at the Vintage House, head for Porto for a great lunch at Book Restaurant. The book is set in an ancient bookstore, keeping the literary environment alive both in the decoration and in the menus, prepared with the best Portuguese flavors reinvented by chef João Mendes.
