The Douro is the place where dreams come true. The valley brings together the best of the region, and it promises to be the ideal choice for wine and gastronomy lovers and relaxation seekers. This is a tour that will take your words, bucket-list-worthy... And the best? It is the private cruise that will be the icing on the cake.
Let me introduce you to the Douro, those who already know it, even through images, know how much it takes our breath away. We want to be there, we dream of going there, it is a place that gives us peace. Its green valleys, full of life, are the scenery of Nature, for me, one of the best sunsets in the world.
The Douro will bewitch you with its unforgettable wine, its delicious traditional cuisine, breathtaking viewpoints.Man was inspired to create it, and today, it is one of the greatest wonders of Nature, currently a UNESCO heritage site.
Without further ado, let's start by presenting this tour, 7 days in this paradise to relax. This tour, designed for true luxury lovers, is one of the best tours I've come across. Complete, diverse, and with a cruise through the wonderful valleys of the Douro River, what more can we ask for?
Day 1 | Arrival
Upon arrival in Portugal, you will be transported from Porto to Régua, one of the most famous points in the Douro, where the tour will begin. After a little exploration of this wonderful and traditional region. Enjoy dinner at Castas & Pratos Restaurant, traditional and luxurious, it will be a meal not to be missed.
On this tour, accommodation will be on board a private yacht.
Day 2 | Wonders of the Douro
Wake up to the beautiful Douro landscape and recharge your batteries with a fantastic breakfast served on board.
After a calm morning, you can enjoy lunch at Quinta de La Rosa, with one of the best views of the Douro Valley. With natural, traditional products and a touch of simplicity, Clara's chef will deliver you a traditional and luxurious meal.
Then, and after this delicious start, you will enjoy a visit with a wine tasting at Quinta de La Rosa Winery. During the visit to the winery and the traditional port cellar, you will learn about the family estate and how the port and wine are made.
Day 3 | History
It's the third day of the tour, after breakfast is served on board, you will depart from Pinhão to Pocinho, where you will later be transferred to one of the best archaeological museums in the region, the Côa Museum.
Opened in 2010, and located on one of the terraces where the Douro River and the Côa River meet, this museum is known for its cutting-edge technology to present a view of the rock art of the Côa Valley, particularly from the Paleolithic era.
The Côa Valley Museum does not fit into the museology of collections. The collection is abroad, in the rock art sites of the Côa Valley. The adopted solution reflects, admittedly, the change in function and motivation of the use of the images of the engravings and sites in the Côa Valley in an environment created for new supports and readings. Enjoy the views and the rest of the day!
Day 4 | Food, wine, and inspiration
It's a new day, and after breakfast, you'll head to Departure from Pocinho quay to Pinhão. It's time to discover Quinta Nova Luxury Winery House. Distinguished by the British luxury guide Luxury Travel Guide with the “Luxury Country Retreat Award”. It was born in the building of the 19th-century manor house, and, amid gardens and terraces, we can take a look at a charming swimming pool between vineyards, a chapel, a terrace under a ramada and with access to the Wine Bar, a winter garden or simply small fruit orchards, historic sites and unique corners, worthy of a visit.
You will visit in detail all production of wines, the vineyard, the winery of 1764, the underground wine cellar, and end your visit with a tasting. Dinner will be served at TERRAÇU'S WINERY RESTAURANT. Indulge in the delights that Terraçus Restaurant has to offer. The menu appeals to the senses and emotions, in a relaxed and curious way. The proposals are different every day and guests never get to know the menu, letting themselves be guided by the inspiration of the Chef.
Day 5 | A Food Journey
You will start the day with a trip from Pinhão quay to Régua, you will have lunch at the wonderful DOC Restaurant, an open window over the breathtaking scenery of the Douro. The restaurant is located on the coastal road between Régua and Pinhão. With the signature of Chef Rui Paula, DOC's cuisine awakens the senses to old memories of dishes from Trás-os-Montes-Durian, to which the Chef gives a very personal and contemporary character.
You will be transferred to Six Senses, after a trip from Folgosa to Régua, where you will enjoy one of the best gastronomic experiences on this tour. Enjoy the fantastic unique Chef's Table experience, a very personal journey of food and wine. The Chef welcomes you to his table, in a friendly and welcoming corner of the hotel's main kitchen.
